A forklift dealer comparison should do more than collect three prices. The useful question is which source can provide the right truck, document its condition and configuration, deliver it when needed and explain support after the sale.

1. How do you confirm application fit?

A credible process asks about load, lift height, aisle, surface, duty cycle and delivery location. Use Union Forklift’s buyer’s guide to prepare those facts.

2. Is the quoted truck an exact unit or a representative specification?

Clarify whether the quote covers a specific serial-numbered machine, an ordered new truck or a class of rental equipment subject to availability.

3. What is included in the forklift price?

Ask about freight, attachments, battery and charger, propane cylinder, preparation, inspection, taxes and other fees. Follow the accurate-quote checklist.

4. How is used-equipment condition documented?

Request service history when available, meter hours, inspection results and clear disclosure of known issues. Review used inventory with the same standards.

5. What warranty is included?

Confirm duration, covered components, labor, travel, deductibles and exclusions. “Warranty included” is not specific enough.

6. Who provides service after delivery?

Parts and technician access matter most when the truck stops. Ask how service is handled at the delivery location and what response expectations are realistic.

7. What is the delivery commitment?

Separate estimated availability from a firm shipment date. Confirm transport, unloading and what happens if the schedule changes.

8. Can purchase, rental and financing be compared?

A dealer should explain available paths without forcing a short-term need into ownership. Compare rental options and financing using the same application.

9. Are capacity and attachment details documented?

The data plate should reflect the mast and installed attachment. Never accept a verbal capacity assurance in place of the configured rating.

Frequently asked questions

Should buyers choose the closest forklift dealer?

Location can help service and freight, but equipment fit, support and transparent terms remain essential.

Can dealer quotes be compared by monthly payment?

Not safely without comparing term, rate, fees, ownership, hour limits and end-of-term obligations.

What is the biggest warning sign?

A quote that avoids application questions or leaves the equipment configuration unclear deserves closer review.

Use one scope to request forklift quotes and compare complete delivered terms.
